I am Japanese and live here with my wife about 100 km away from Tokyo Japan. I would like to write off nothing out of ordinary at our house in English with some Japanese. As a matter of cause, I will attache some pictures with my words. 連合いと二人で生活している爺でござる。日常のたわいもない出来事と生活を写真と共に残したいと考えている。

I don't think that your "boiled soybeans" have been boiled yet! :) They are just "soybeans" until they get dipped in hot water.

You are right!
I should say it green soybean.
But we discriminate between soybean and green soybean(boiled soybean)in here.
Soybean means Daizu; Green soybean means Edamame in Japanese.
Edamame has two means, green soybean and boilded soybean.
Daizu will be ingredient of Miso, Shoyu, Tofu and Natto as you know. But Green soybean never be ingredient of them. It's just boiled or cooked as Edamame soupe.
Thank you for your comments
I did not know that edamame and tofu came from different kinds of soybeans. Interesting! I suppose I should not be surprised, because so many other plants have different types for different uses.
