Don Don Yaki

Don Don Yaki means to pray for good health.

Offering Altarage, it's new year's event which was held yesterday.

These are altarage.

This is Don Don Yaki, Yaki means burning.

We burn some goods which were used by each one last year.

This is mochi pounding.

These are three kind of rice-cakes.

And amasake, it made of sake-cake.
We are able to enjoy these typical new year's foods at that day.

Happy new year! What a wonderful festival. We don't have enough holidays over here that involve burning things. :D

That mochi looks delicious!

Thank you Hero! I do have a New Year memory from Japan: I wanted to stay up until midnight but my parents made me go to bed! :)
